Announcement

New technological development in the 21st century has brought tremendous changes to the library including infrastructure, library management, service concept, service methodologies, and technological measures. New technologies have changed users’ information seeking behavior, impacting on library routine work, management, knowledge-based services, and service models. How to keep abreast of developmental trends, design strategies, update management concepts, and transform user service models in this ever changing information environment; how to define academic library position and mission and explore new methodologies for library sustainable development; how to arouse library team innovation and vitality and improve librarians qualities; these are all unavoidable issues facing library leaders and managers. Academic libraries in this age of development and prosperity will face more unknown challenges and opportunities.

The International Conference on Leadership and Innovative Management in Academic Libraries in the Age of New Technology is jointly organized by Tongji University and the Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA). The meeting will be held in Tongji University, Shanghai, China, from April 25-27, 2012. Colleagues from around the world are invited to participate in the conference to engage in extensive exchange and dialog on leadership vision, management innovation, application of new technologies, digital resource building, and knowledge-based services to enhance librarians’ mutual understanding in these areas and to inspire new thinking and approaches to challenges.
